Brazilian Butt Lift Frequently Asked Questions
The Brazilian Butt Lift pertains to auto fat transfer to the buttocks.
When can I return to work?
There is typically some drainage from the incision sites for 2 to 3 days. After that stops draining, there still may be some discomfort, mainly from the areas where the fat was havested. Usually you can return to work in 3 to 5 days.
When will I feel normal again?
Typically you will feel normal within 2 weeks.
What kind of anesthesia will I need during the procedures?
The Brazilian butt lift can potentially be performed under local anesthesia with oral sedation. This is really dependent on how many areas were used for harvest. If multiple harvest areas are being used, it can be quite uncomfortable under local, so we will recommend general anesthesia. The operation can be performed in our state-of-the-art, Joint Commission certified operating facility.
What happens after the procedure?
You will receive prescriptions for pain and muscle spasms. If general anesthesia is used you'll receive antibiotics intravenously at the time of the procedure. If local anesthesia is used, you will receive a prescription for oral antibiotics. It typically helps if ice packs are used the first 48 hours. It is good to begin ambulating immediately. A garment will be applied. We recommend that you wear it for 2 weeks.
When can I go back to the gym?
It's okay to begin working out as soon as you feel able. The main restriction is your comfort level. If pain is not an issue, all activities can be resumed.
What do the stretching exercises do? Will they give me more pain?
Stretching helps loosen the muscles and decreases recuperation time. They accelerate easing of discomfort. Stretching also helps decrease the possibility of muscle spasms.
When can I sit?
You can sit the day after surgery. It's best not to stay in one place for prolonged periods of time. Some doctors think it's best to stay off the buttocks for 2 weeks. I've found that fat is very resistant to pressure. It's probably a god idea to sleep in the prone position the first week.
Are there health concerns when using silicone?
There is no evidence linking silicone to any autoimmune diseases or any medical problems. The solid silicone form (used for butt augmentation) has been used for years without any problems.
